Education/work/clubs/organizationsMr. Moroney was born in Meriden, Connecticut, the only child of Mary and Thomas J. Moroney. He was a devoted family man, married for 51 years to his wife, Alice Marie (Roach) Moroney, who died in 2004 a year after the couple celebrated their 50th wedding at the Westford Regency with family and friends and their sons sharing memories of their years growing up. He enrolled in the College of the Holy Cross immediately after high school graduation at the age of 16. He earned his bachelor‘s degree in science, focused on chemistry, and a master’s in science. He worked at several small companies including Connecticut Hard Rubber before he was hired by General Electric Co. where he was a salesman in the silicone rubber products division. In 1967, he moved his family from upstate New York to Acton, Massachusetts, to become a partner in Chase-Walton Elastomers of Hudson. He became vice president and part-owner and helped significantly expand the silicone-rubber specialty parts business into new areas such as medical equipment.

Mr. Moroney was also a coach for his son’s baseball and hockey teams. His favorite times were entertaining family with his storytelling and heading to Cape Cod for summer vacations with his wife and sons. He loved to read, listen to opera and discuss politics.
