| Education/work/clubs/organizations | Born and raised in Maynard, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Margaret E. (Colbert) Slimond and sister of the late Elizabeth Duggan. Mrs. Hellawell was a graduate of Maynard High School Class of 1932. For many years she owned a dance school in Maynard with recitals held at the Eagles Hall, and she loved teaching classes well into her 80s. Mrs. Hellawell also enjoyed activities with the Maynard Senior Citizens and the Summer Hill Glen Club. |
| Survivors | She is survived by four children, Gail P. Sloan and husband David Condon of Boynton Beach, FL., Paul J. Hellawell and wife Susan of Leominster, Elizabeth M. Nixon and husband Mark of Orleans, and MaryAnn Piasecki and husband Leon of Harvard. She was the mother of the late William Albert Hellawell Jr., and is also survived by his wife Rose Hellawell of Litchfield, NH., 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. |
| Arrangements | Visiting hours are today, Sun. May 22nd from 3-7pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave. (Rte 111) Acton. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Mon. May 23rd at 9am in St. Bridget's Church, 1 Percival St., Maynard, with burial following in Glenwood Cemetery, Great Rd. (Rte 117) Maynard. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to either the Nashoba Park Residents' Council, 15 Winthrop Ave, Ayer, MA. 01432 or to the Activities Fund, LifeCare of Acton, 1 Great Rd., Acton, MA. 01720. |
